Quotes
All my work is peace education. The heart of peace education is understanding people’s lives, dreams, cultures, and practices and appreciating them in whatever contributions they make to society.
Martha Llanos
If we want true peace in the world, we shall have to start with the children. We will not have peace in the world if we continue to violate children’s rights.
Mahatma Gandhi

Personal Childhood Web
This is a picture of my Mom and my brother Travis
My Mother
My mom was always there for me when I was a child. She always was such a positive person and so much fun. More than anything I always felt loved by her. Each day she would put all her energy into taking care of my brother and I. When I grew up she became my best friend. I always appreciated how open and honest our relationship was. She died of cancer last year. This has been the hardest thing I have ever gone through. I am blessed with the time I had with her. Now I try to mother my own children with the same ideals and love.
My Father
My mom and dad were divorced when I was seven. The relationship I had with my dad was different because I only saw him every other weekend. He always took us to do fun activities and spent all the time we had together focused on my brother and I. He was very involved with everything I did and always made sure to call me and check in during the week. I always knew he was there for me. We still have the same relationship today. He lives far away, but we keep in close touch. He is someone I rely on and I cherish our relationship.
My Brother
My brother is five years younger than me. Sometimes I acted more like a mother to him than a sister. We understood each other on a different level than anyone else. We gave each other stability. I am so thankful I was not an only child and had him to share all my fun childhood experiences with. Christmas would not have been the same without him. Our relationship is still very close and we are here for each other whenever we need anything.
My Gram
My grandma was an angel to me when I was a child. She took care of me through my parents divorce and gave me a special kind of love. She would always tell me how important I was to her and how much she loved me. She spent quality time with my brother and I. She would tell us stories about growing up in Canada in a log cabin. These were some of my best childhood memories. She has made me a better mother and shaped the person I am today. Because of her I understand the impact one individual can have on a child.
My Popo
My grandpa was also there to take care of me. My grandma did not drive and my mom had a new baby so he took me to the first day of Kindergarten. He would take me on walks and play games with me. He loved to dance. We would put on music and dance around the house. He was always so happy. He was a solid influence on my life always there to cheer me up and make me smile. I look back on my childhood and understand how important it is for a child to have these relationships when they are growing up. He would aways say, "Did the mirror smile back today?" I love that saying.

Loving the sun!
This is a picture of me when I was little. I still LOVE the sun. I love to work in the garden, and enjoy the outdoors. One of the great things about living in Oregon is you are really ready when summer comes around.
One of my favorite children's books is The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle. I read it so many times to my girls they knew all the words of the book by heart. I would always make the grouchy ladybug have a really mean voice when reading the book and they would always laugh...every time.
Drawing
My daughter Brooklyn drew this picture of me. I love it because she sees me as very fancy. I like the way she drew the make-up on the face, since I wear very little. Of course I love the "I love you Mommy".
