"The objectives of a comprehensive program should include improving
the child's physical health and physical abilities."
Dr. Robert Cooke and the Head Start Panel of Experts, 1965
"Built is passion is important to make a real contribution to the world, and to fix all the injustices in the world. I wanted to do this through teaching."
Louise Derman-Sparks
"Religion has always been an important part of my life — a subconscious influence, as well as a conscious directive."
Dr. Abigail Elliot
"I'm not here to save the world, just to make a difference."
Raymond Hernandez
Hi Alissa,
ReplyDeleteI can really relate to the last two comments. Religion is a huge part of my family's life. It has built a foundation for all we do, without really even being aware of it, at times. The last quote by Raymond Hernandez is short, but very powerful. Sometimes I can feel discouraged if I can't help (save) everyone, but knowing that a difference was made in perhaps just one child's life is what I need to focus on. Your quote reminded me to do so. Thanks.
Hi Alissa,
ReplyDeleteI really like the quote by Raymond Hernandez. I think that really sums up what educators do each day. The benefit is that usually making a difference has an impact on changing the world. Thanks for the encouraging quotes
Alissa,
ReplyDeletei really enjoyed the quote by Raymond Hernandez. I feel it helps explains a teachers everyday life. I feel it also explains how a parent feels towards their child. Their goal is to change how a child views the world and those in it. I think this as well as the other quotes you posted are very inspirational.
The quote by Louise Derman-Sparks is very inspiring due to the fact she relates having built in passion to teach to fixing injustices of the world. If you don't have that motivation, determination, or drive for teaching children, then your job is pointless. I would consider that person dead weight to children. I see people work in day cares who are NOT licensed to even provide proper care to children; they just work there because it's family owned. I oft wonder and ponder if they truly have that passion or if they are looking for a paycheck. To me, in the education field, you should always think of service before self and excel in all you do. Don't do just enough to get by, you should want to appeal to others as exceptional and that there is no one who can replace you because of the outstanding work that you do. Thanks so much for sharing that quote with us. Have a wonderful day
ReplyDeleteRaymond Hernandez has a geat qout. As Teachers we cannot save the world, but if we can make a difference in at least one students life, we have done our jobs. We just need more help to moivate these children, help them belive in theirselves more.
